Glazes
Acrylic / Perspex
Acrylic, also known as Perspex or Plexiglas, offers several benefits over glass including that it is shatterproof, lighter weight than glass, more optically pure that glass (while having the same UV-filter and non-glare features) and it is an excellent thermal insulator. However, it can scratch more easily, it tends to attract dust due to its static electric properties, it is susceptible to bowing because it is not as stiff as glass, and it is more expensive to produce than float glass.
Float Glass
Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal. The process is also known as the Pilkington process, named after the British glass manufacturer Pilkington, which pioneered the technique in the 1950s. Float glass is the most widely used form of glass in consumer products, due to both its high quality with no additional polishing required and its structural flexibility during production.
Tru Vue Museum Glass
Tru Vue Museum Glass is premium glass that virtually eliminates reflections. It blocks up to 99% of UV rays and has offers optimal light transmissiont that brightens colours. The glass coating offers better durability and easier cleaning that other surfaces, with no rippling effect.
Mounts
1.4mm, 2.0mm and 3.2mm depth
Mounts are typically offered in three depth sizes (although some products mdo not offer all options). All mounts are “conservation grade”, FSC certified, 100% acid free, and will not discolour or fade with age.
The mount width size depends on the size of the frame. Frames that are 10x10” or below have a 1” mount. Frames that are 11x15” or below have a 1.5” mount. Frames that are 12x16” or above have a 2” mount.
Shipping
Packaging
All prints are robustly packaged.
Photographic prints are flat-packed in individual packets.
Unframed fine art prints are hand rolled in protective tissue paper and then shipped in extra thick cardboard tubes unless they are A4 or smaller and being delivered in the UK or mainland Europe (in which case they are shipped in thick cardboard envelopes).
All framed and canvas prints are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimise the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
Shipping
Budget shipping has slower delivery times than standard shipping and is typically sent using an untracked service (although all US orders are tracked).
Standard shipping may be tracked or untracked for most print on demand products, depending on destination.
Express shipping is typically with a courier, will be tracked and will be a fast, premium service.
Returns
Given the personal customization of orders, we are unable to accept returns. If the product has a defect, we will do our best to resolve the problem.
