New York Photography Workshop

Learn how to get the most from your digital camera and take pictures you'll want to keep!

If you leave your camera on Automatic, then this half-day workshop is for you!

This half-day workshop take you from "point-and-pray" to understanding how to use the features of your camera as well as composition techniques so you can start creating well-composed shots as well as ensuring you capture the moment when you find yourself in the right place at the right time.

And the most important part is that you'll get to practice what you're learning.

Many attendees take this course after buying a new digital camera, when considering buying a new one, or before going on vacation to ensure they come back with photographs that they are happy showing to others!

The workshop will give you an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of digital photography and how to use the functions of your camera to enable you to start taking significantly better pictures immediately. We'll cover ISO, Aperture, Selective Focus and several composition techniques. The workshop generally takes place in the southern part of Central Park, New York, with the final exercise on 5th Avenue finishing at the Rockefeller Center.

The workshop is now in its fourth year, with over 250 people having completed the course. The workshop is taught by Sam Chadwick. Click here for more information about Sam.

When: One Saturday per month - 1:00pm to 6:00pm in Central Park
Cost: $75 per person (maximum 8 people)*
Types of Camera: Your camera should let you have manual control over ISO and Aperture - if you are not sure, don't hesitate to send me an email with your camera model and I'll let you know.

Private Parties

If you wish to arrange for a workshop as a private event, this can be done. Please email me with the details. The workshop does not have to take place in Central Park if another location is more convenient for the group.

Private Tuition

If you would like one-on-one photography instruction, please email me to arrange a time, place and duration depending on your particular requirements. Private tuition costs $60 per hour for individuals, $80 per hour for couples.

New York Photography Safaris

Photography Safaris are for amateur photographers interested in short outings e.g. to events or parades to photograph areas of New York. The outing is not intended to be an instructional session like the workshop, instead it allows you to bounce ideas off other phtographers, experiment with different techniques, share other people's equipment, and then compare photos after the event.

Safaris are free for those who have attended a workshop or received private tuition, otherwise there is a charge of $10. All attendees will be expected to cover their own entry fees if applicable.
