I say old bean, life on the dark continent is not without its trials. The natives have been rather restless and I seem to have mislaid my pith helmet.
It seems that we have been rather beset by tribulations relating to equipment; many of the problems seem to be related to substandard equipment originating in the orient.
I am pleased to be able to say that the porters have been taking good care of the supplies of vermouth and gin, but finding decent supplies of ice for the daily martini has been somewhat challenging.
It has been frightfully difficult to obtain a decent cup of tea out here and we have to make do without the finest bone china cups and saucers. At least I have been able to inspect our tea plantations.
Did I mention that I bumped into Timothy Symthington-Wordley in Kampala? He is still running his little diamond enterprise and mentioned that you would be welcome to invest a few guineas in it if you fancied broadening your portfolio.
Tootle pip old chap. I hope the weather in Blighty is not getting you down too much. Try and keep your pecker up. I am finding it rather tiresome having to deal with the relentless heat and am longing for a decent stroll over the mist covered grouse moors.
I will see you shortly for a chin wag in the club and we can reminisce over a fine brandy.
